The inCircle Community allows alumni to leverage your network of AU connections to find jobs, housing, business associates, and new friends for interests and activities you have in common. Think MySpace or Friendster with an alumni twist.
Powered by Affinity Engines, AU's inCircle Community provides an exclusive, dynamic, secure, and user-friendly online community, driven by you, the alumni users. It also provides alumni an easy way to reconnect and stay connected with old friends you may have lost touch with over the years. "This is such an exciting new benefit for our alumni," says Vanessa Yost, director of Alumni Programs. This new inCircle Community will allow alumni to build individual personal networks by searching for and inviting fellow alumni to join, she explains. Like other popular "social networking" tools, each alum's inCircle network will grow quickly, each time friends invite other friends to take part in the virtual community. The ability to "visually map" who you know, and who they know, literally illustrates the popular "six degrees of separation" concept within the AU alumni community. Plus, you can create and join customized groups to discuss issues ranging from first-time parenting to mountain biking or real estate. These forums - exclusively for alumni - offer a place to ask and offer advice, find a sublet, post a job, etc. Other features include messaging, blogging, e-mail forwarding, unlimited photo sharing, and much more, all generated dynamically to create an experience unique to each individual.
