As an AU graduate, you may audit one nontutorial course per semester and one in the summer for $100 each (plus departmental fees, if applicable), provided: The enrollment limit for the course has not been met. You are in good financial standing with the university. You secure the necessary permissions as outlined below.
Proceeds support the Alumni Scholarship Fund. Some courses are restricted (such as Consortium classes) or may require departmental authorization (see below). How to Register
To register, complete the Alumni Audit Registration Form, submit it in person; mail it to the office of Alumni Programs; or fax it to 202-885-5964, and your request will be processed. If you choose to fax the form, please contact the Office of Alumni Programs at 202-885-5962 or e-mail dan.beardslee@american.edu to ensure it was received. Registration for Spring 2009
Registrations for the Spring 2009 semester will be accepted from Monday, January 12, 2009 through FRIDAY, JANUARY 23, 2009 AT NOON LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED, REGARDLESS OF REASON.
Once registrations have been processed, no refunds will be given. Cancellations of audit registrations will be accepted only during the registration period and only if they are confirmed by Dan Beardslee at 202-885-5962. Forms that arrive in the office before the registration period will not be processed until the official registration period begins. If your course requires departmental approval, you must have the professor or department chair sign the registration form prior to submitting it to the Office of Alumni Programs. ** BLUE CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
